Ways to Give Back to our Community This Holiday Season

Community is in our name for a reason. We are big believers in giving back to our communities and thought we’d share some of the ways we give as a company as well as some of our staff’s personal favorites. Building stronger communities is at the heart of what we do every day but it always beats a little louder this time of year.

FEEDNC

FeedNC is definitely a favorite of the CSI team. Established in 1987, FeedNC, stands for food, education, essentials, dignity.

It’s a food-focused resource that seeks to end the cycle of hunger and poverty through programs and creating opportunities for those in need.

FeedNC puts your generosity into action whether you contribute your time, help create upward economic mobility opportunities, share your space as a community partner, or donate food.

HEARTS & HANDS

This is another wonderful organization in the area that is helping combat food insecurity.

As one of the only fully independent food pantries in North Carolina, their services are easily accessible and low-barrier so that anyone can get the help they need, for as long as they need.

NORTH CAROLINA HOLIDAY HEROES

Close to the heart of some of our staff members, the N.C. section of Youth Villages provides help for children and young people who are experiencing emotional, mental or behavioral challenges, and work to find solutions that strengthen the child’s family and support systems.

You can donate and be a Holiday Hero knowing you’re making a difference in the lives of local youth by helping fulfill their holiday wish lists.

LUNCH IS ON ME

Consider calling your school to see if you can help fund your district’s lunch accounts. Depending on your budget you can help the entire school, a grade, or anonymously sponsor an individual student.

Did you know sometimes students who are unable to afford their lunch may be served a different meal which could alert their peers that they are unable to pay? And, the debt follows the student until they graduate!

Many school lunch programs are federally funded, which means by law, they are not able to carry debt forward, and must pay the school nutrition department for any balances due at the end of every school year.

This is a great way to give a little and make a really big impact.

JINGLE BELL RUN – IN SUPPORT OF THE ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION

The Arthritis Foundation’s Jingle Bell Run is a fun way to get decked out in your best festive gear, and race to raise funds and awareness to cure America’s #1 cause of disability. Please consider donating to our CSI team for the race that takes place on Saturday, November 23 – 9:00 am at Truist Field Support your local CSI team here.

HELP STUDENTS IMPACTED BY HURRICANE HELENE

Our CSI team has family and close connections in the nearby mountains that were devastated by Hurricane Helene.

Cranberry Middle School, located in Newland, N.C. was severely impacted by Helene and continues to be challenged by the aftermath; some students and staff only very recently had their water turned back on.

Please help with their 8th Grade Field Trip to D.C. Many say that experiences and travel are the greatest gifts to give and we couldn’t agree more.

A rite of passage to visit the nation’s capital includes stops at the museums, war memorials and more. Given the devastation that many student’s families and the community at-large has experienced fundraising has been incredibly difficult. Please consider donating to help all of the students participate in the trip. For more information on the students’ trip or to quickly and securely donate click here.
