What’s the deal with HOA rules and all the acronyms?
First, let’s start with CCRs before we get to ARCs—you’ll see this acronym often. CCRs stand for Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions.
These documents are something that your community is governed by, and they were usually set in place by the developer who built your community.
The Boards – who are made up of volunteers from within your community- make sure that everyone is on the same page and abiding by the CCRs.
CSI – A Division of Sentry Management- helps your Board with this in a few ways.
We, at the direction of your Board, drive through your community regularly to check on anything that may not comply with the CCRs. Not always, but these are typically things like non-compliant real estate signs, parking issues, overgrown lawns and gardens, and mildew.
It’s important to take the time to read through your Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions documents you receive at closing. These documents are also available in the AppFolio portal for ongoing reference.
Why do I need an ARC?
ARC stands for Architectural Review Committee. To help protect every homeowner’s right and property values, any homeowner planning improvements visible from other homes is required to submit an ARC Request Form in accordance with the CCRs.
How do you submit an ARC form, and where is it?
Submitting is quick and painless. We promise. Just click this link to jump over to the page with the online form.
Make sure you have your ARC attachments
Take a second to gather your files before you start filling in the form. Depending on your project, the most common items required when submitting a request:
- Photo samples of what the completion will look like,
- Permits if applicable,
- Plot map/ survey plat,
- Colors,
- Contractor information
What Sentry does and doesn’t do when it comes to ARC requests
Sentry does not approve your ARC request. We are the community management company that supports your HOA by facilitating the application process.
Plan on at least 30 days for your request to be reviewed by your community’s Architectural Review Committee.
The fastest way to track the progress is through your portal. If you haven’t activated your account yet, you can do so here.
